New Amberpet flyover in Hyderabad opened for motorists

Rs.338 crore was spent for construction of Amberpet flyover

Hyderabad: The newly constructed Amberpet flyover was opened for the convenience of motorists on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri on Wednesday.

This brought relief to motorists who can now expect a hassle-drive from Amberpet flyover after experiencing traffic chaos for years in the locality. A whopping Rs.338 crore was spent for the construction of Amberpet flyover, according to officials.

The vehicular traffic was allowed on the flyover after the Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy inspected it from Golnaka church to Vani Photo Studio in Amberpet on Tuesday and instructed officials to allow traffic on the flyover to pave the way for taking up beautification and other road development works beneath the flyover.

He also said that the flyover construction could not be completed on time because of the delay caused by the State government in acquiring land for the flyover works. The national highway from Chaderghat to Warangal Amberpet was previously winded when former TDP president late NT Rama Rao was the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh. Since there were graveyards on both sides at Amberpet sixth lane, the task of widening the road became difficult.

Kishan Reddy, who was the former MLA of Amberpet Assembly constituency, then took the initiative and spoke to the Central government requesting that a flyover be constructed since there was a graveyard. Sources said the inauguration of the flyover would be conducted officially after completion of beautification and other road development works.
