New Aramghar-Zoo Flyover to Decongest Old City

Hyderabad: The Old City is poised for major relief from traffic woes with the soon to be inaugurated second-longest flyover in the city connecting Aramghar to Nehru Zoological Park. Alongside this, other infrastructure projects, including the Malakpet Road under Bridge (RuB) and the flyover from Chanchalguda to IS Sadan, are under construction to further improve commuting conditions.

The new bi-directional six-lane flyover which is 4.04 km long aims to alleviate traffic at five major junctions: Aramghar, Shastripuram, Kalapathar, Darul Uloom, Shivrampally, and Hassannagar. This facility is expected to ease several bottlenecks along the main road between Aramghar and the zoo. The city's longest flyover remains the 11.6-km PVNR Expressway.

Another major project underway is the 3.38-km four-lane bi-directional flyover connecting Nalgonda crossroads to Santoshnagar. Currently under construction, this flyover starts at the Government Printing Press in Chanchalguda. One ramp ends at Yadagiri theatre in Santoshnagar, while the other ramp is meant facilitate traffic towards Champapet. This development will ease congestion at IS Sadan, Saidabad, and Chanchalguda traffic junctions.

In addition to these flyovers, the Malakpet RuB is being constructed adjacent to the existing structure and includes approach roads. This new RuB is set to resolve decades-old traffic issues for commuters travelling from Dilsukhnagar to Koti.

Once operational, both the Nalgonda crossroads to Santoshnagar flyover and the Malakpet RuB will provide a conflict-free traffic corridor between Nalgonda crossroads and Kanchanbagh Road. These infrastructure enhancements are expected to benefit not only local residents but also officials working in the Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL), and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).
