Nizamabad Farmers Celebrate Loan Waiver at Hotels, Dhabas
Nizamabad: Farmers are jubilant as the state government waives off up to Rs 2 lakh crop loans. An increase in loan cap from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh brought cheers among farmers. After the government credited the waiver amounts into their bank accounts, farmers began celebrations in the Nizamabad district, especially in the Armoor division. They are planning to purchase gifts with the crop loan waiver amount.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Ganga Reddy, a farmer from Anksapur village in Armoor mandal said, “Many farmers from our village got benefited with the crop loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh. We are celebrating this with other farmers. Each day we are spending about Rs 5,000 for group celebrations in hotels and dhabas.”
Due to the rush from the farmers, dhabas on National Highway 63 (Nizamabad to Jagdalpur) set up special chair arrangements. A few farmers consumed liquor and others ordered delicious dishes in the dhabas. The farmers are discussing the crop loan waiver amount to be utilised to purchase home appliances in their homes.
Raja Goud of Velpur said they had never expected a crop loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh. For the first time, we benefited with the crop loan waiver amount at earliest, he said. We actually repaid the crop loan amount and the waiver benefitted us to see the bank balance in our savings accounts, he explained. Replying to a question, he said that most of the farmers benefited from the crop loan waiver.
On the other hand, the Nizamabad district administration appointed nodal officers for all mandals to receive applications on grievances related to the crop loan waiver scheme. Due to technical errors and other reasons, some farmers did not get the loan waiver benefit. The agriculture department is coordinating at the field level to settle the complaints from farmers
