Nizamabad NPDCL AAE gets one year RI in bribe case

Hyderabad: A special court for ACB cases has sentenced Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) Assistant Administrative Engineer, Operations, Macha Sadashiv from Nizamabad to one year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a bribe case.

The court has also imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 on Sadashiv for the offence punishable under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act-1988. In default of the payment of the fine amount, he must undergo a simple imprisonment for three months.

He was further sentenced to undergo RI for one year and also to pay a fine of Rs.10,000 for the offence punishable under Section 13(1) (d) read with 13(2) of the PC Act-1988. In default of the payment of the fine amount, he should undergo a simple imprisonment for three months. Both the substantive sentences of imprisonment imposed against Sadashiv would run concurrently.

On July 24, 2008, Sadashiv, an NPDCL AAE, Operations, at Makloor in Nizamabad demanded and accepted an amount of Rs.3,000 for doing official favour to put new transformer and connections to bore wells at agriculture fields belonging to the complainant and his relatives at Madanpally village in Makloor mandal.
