No Cabinet Expansion Plans: Revanth While Leaving for Delhi
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy left for Delhi on Monday evening. He will hold a meeting with Congress MPs on Tuesday to discuss strategies for the ongoing Parliament Winter Session.
The meeting will address unresolved state bifurcation issues and focus on bringing pressure on the Centre for fulfilling pending assurances given to Telangana under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Dispelling rumours that he would discuss the state Cabinet expansion with the Congress high command, Revanth Reddy said, while addressing a press conference here on Monday, that his visit was not a political one.
"The media always speculates about Cabinet reshuffle whenever I visit Delhi. However, this trip is primarily for attending the wedding of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla's daughter. On Tuesday, I will discuss Telangana’s issues with our MPs and finalise a strategy to push for pending funds and projects in Parliament," he said.
The Chief Minister added that he intended to meet Union ministers to request approvals for key state projects and the release of overdue funds. "Telangana has suffered for a decade. These funds are our right, not a favour from the BJP. We must actively engage with Union ministers, regardless of political differences," Reddy said.
The Chief Minister also revealed plans for the Congress-led government’s first-anniversary celebrations, spanning nine days from December 1. Invitations will be extended to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and party president Mallikarjun Kharge. The celebration’s culmination will be marked by unveiling of the ‘Telangana Talli’ statue at the Secretariat.
He dismissed opposition criticism of his frequent Delhi visits, declaring, "Unlike some leaders who go to Delhi to kneel before the Prime Minister or escape legal troubles, I visit to fight for Telangana's rights and development."
Taking a jab at Union minister G. Kishan Reddy and other BJP leaders, he said that their celebration of recent election results in Maharashtra was baseless.
"Congress has proven its strength in Lok Sabha bypolls, including Wayanad and Nanded, while BJP faced rejection. The ruling parties in Maharashtra and Jharkhand retained power. What is there for BJP leaders to celebrate? Kishan Reddy’s claims are delusional," he remarked.
Revanth Reddy also dismissed allegations by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao about the Congress' supposed ties with the Adani Group.
" I have no interest in responding to Psycho Ram's accusations," he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to Telangana’s progress, stressing that the state’s development mattered to him and not political vendettas.
"This is not a time for anger or resentment but to move forward with determination for the welfare of Telangana and its people," he said.
