No coercive action against Mohan Babu, SC to TG police
HYDERABAD: In an interim relief to veteran actor Manchu Mohan Babu, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Telangana police not to take coercive action against him in a case of alleged assault on a journalist.
The bench, comprising Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, while granting interim relief to the actor, issued a notice to the police, directing them to file their contentions in the appeal filed by Mohan Babu, challenging the Telangana High Court order rejecting his anticipatory bail plea.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Mohan Babu, submitted that his client’s estranged son had entered his client’s house with the media crew over a family dispute. There was confrontation when the media questioned him regarding family issues. He added that the actor was ready to apologise and give compensation to the injured journalist.
However, counsel for the journalist submitted that the accused had visited the hospital where his client was undergoing treatment and had tried to threaten him to withdraw his complaint.
