Notification issued for governing council of Kaleshwaram temple
WARANGAL: The Telangana endowments department has officially notified the appointment process for the governing council of the Sri Mukteswara Swamy Temple in Kaleshwaram of Mahadevpur mandal, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
Endowment department commissioner E. Sridhar announced that eligible candidates can submit their applications within the next 20 days, with the deadline set for January 28.
Kaleshwaram is acclaimed as a major Shaiva pilgrimage centre in Telangana and is popularly known as the Dwilinga Temple. The temple is distinguished by its unique architecture, featuring two Shiva Lingams on a single platform, worshipped simultaneously as Kaludu and Shivudu. Local traditions hold that visiting Yama before Mukteshwara (Shiva) at the temple leads to salvation.
The temple's uniqueness is accentuated by four Nandi statues, four flagpoles, and four Gopurams (towers) at the sanctum. It stands among the few temples in India, such as Konark and Arasavalli, recognised as Surya Devalayas.
Sri Mukteshwara Swamy Temple attracts devotees not only from the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh but also from neighbouring states like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Karnataka. Its strategic location near Triveni Sangamam, where the Godavari, Pranahita, and Saraswati rivers converge, enhances its spiritual significance.
