Numaish extended by two days
Numaish, the 84th All India Industrial Exhibition, has been extended until February 17.

Hyderabad:Numaish, the 84th All India Industrial Exhibition, has been extended until February 17. Hyderabad police commissioner C.V. Anand approved the extension after a request from the Exhibition Society, providing relief to traders seeking more time to recover losses.
Exhibition Society vice-president K. Niranjan, secretary B. Surender Reddy and members R. Sukesh Reddy and Dheeraj Jaiswal met the commissioner to seek approval. “Since the exhibition started two days late this year, stall owners urged us to extend the dates. We submitted a formal request, and the police responded positively,” said Surender Reddy.
This year, Numaish, which usually begins on January 1, was delayed until January 3 due to the national mourning for former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh. The late start led to reduced footfall. As of February 10, about 16 lakh visitors have attended, with the highest single-day count at 84,000.
“We travelled from Rajasthan expecting good business, but the late start and lower turnout affected sales. The extra days help, but we also hope for some concession on stall rent,” said Rajesh B. Kumar, a Jaipur-based trader. With just a few days left, organisers anticipate a surge in visitors, making the final weekend the busiest of the season.
