Over 1 Lakh Ganesha Idols for Hyderabad’s Ganesh Festival

Hyderabad: More than one lakh idols of Lord Ganesha, in myriad forms and sizes, will be installed by Ganesh mandapams under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits between September 7 and September 17, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) announced during the inauguration of their Siddhiamber Bazar office on Wednesday.

Addressing mediapersons, BGUS president Raghava Reddy, general secretary Rajavardhan Reddy and others urged the government to make appropriate arrangements for the final day procession and to provide adequate facilities.

“The immersion procession is one of largest collective procession and this event is witnessed throughout the world. For the Congress government, this Ganesh festival will be the first one after coming into power. It is expected that the government will be taking all necessary steps to make this festival a grand event,” Raghava Reddy said after inaugurating the office by lighting the lamp.

The samithi also requested the government to take necessary measures in allocating power supply during the festive period and assured all departments of state government of full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the 11-day festivities.

“This is the 45th year since the collective immersion programme started. The samithi will be coordinating with all the mandapams to see the programmes take place smoothly. It will also see to it that during the festival spirituality and patriotic feeling is maintained amongst the youth. Our culture and traditions are followed everywhere,” BGUS representatives said.

BGUS further added that there would be a meeting with the various departments of the government soon.

The other officer bearers, Dr Ravinuthala Sheshidhar, Mahender, Ramesh and advisors Karodimal, Madhivalatha, also participated.
