Panchayat Secretary, Bill Collector in ACB Net for Allegedly Accepting Bribe

Hyderabad: A Panchayat Secretary and Bill Collector from Ranga Reddy district were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday afternoon for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.35,000 from a complainant.

Radhika Reddy, a Panchayath Secretary working at the office of Gram Panchayath in Nanajpur village of Ranga Reddy district was caught by ACB when she allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant Mohammed Barkath Ali of Tadban in Bahadurpura through bill collector Balraj at the office.

The bribe was demanded for allotting a house number and also allowing constructing a compound wall for his plot numbers 83 and 84/p measuring 500 square yards at survey number 6/9 in Nanajpur village in Shamshabad mandal, according to ACB.

The ACB officials recovered the bribe amount from the possession of Balraj. They produced both Reddy and Balraj before the special court for ACB cases after which the court remanded them to judicial custody. The ACB officials urged the public to contact ACB’s toll-free number – 1064 for taking action as per law if any public servant demands a bribe.
