Panel soon to study backwardness in tribal areas: Seethakka

ADILABAD: Minister for rural development Seethakka on Sunday said development is taking a back seat in tribal areas with insufficient funds and a committee will be formed to study the reasons for the backwardness and the measures to be taken for development in the tribal areas in the state.

She said the report will be submitted to the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and will seek sufficient funds for the development of the tribal areas.

She was speaking to the media after holding a meeting with the Adivasi organisations and communities in Utnoor.

Seethakka said the police department is taking steps to bring peace in the tribal areas and promised to do justice to Adivasi victims in the tribal areas. She added that they were trying to resolve problems like health, education and poor road connectivity in the rural and tribal areas.

Earlier, Seethakka discussed the issues and problems that arose with the Adivasi leaders and community leaders and Adivasi leaders explained the issues to the minister.

Collectors Rajarshi Shaw of Adilaabad, Venkatesh Dhotre of Asifabad, SPs Gause Alam and D.V. Srinivas Rao of respective districts and ITDA project officer Khushbhoo Guptha also participated in the discussions.
