People should read Dasarathi’s writings, says Siddha Reddy

Hyderabad:“Not reading Dasarathi's writings does not harm him, but it greatly harms today’s poets, writers, and youth, as well as society as a whole.” said Nandini Siddha Reddy, a writer and poet from Telangana.

He was speaking at the 37th death anniversary of renowned Telugu poet Dasarathi Krishnamacharya, which was organised by The Telangana Literary Academy to honour the late poet and his works.

The Academy released a new collection of stories titled “Nippu Poolu,” featuring works by Dasarathi. During the programme, Siddha Reddy, the chief guest, highlighted the need for building a memorial dedicated to Dasarathi.

Dr Mamidi Harikrishna, director of the culture department and a national poet, told Deccan Chronicle, “Today, we remember Dasarathi and the inspiration he still brings to the people of Telangana. His words remind us of the strength and rich culture of the region.”

Dasarathi’s son-in-law, Gauri Shankar suggested that Dasarathi's famous line, “Naa Telangana Koti Ratanala Veena (My Telangana, a Veena of a Crore Gems),” should be inscribed under the statue of Telangana Talli statue at the Telangana Secretariat.

Other notable literary figures, including Ganta Manohar Reddy, K. Prabhakar Acharya, and Dr. S. Raghu, also participated in the event.
