Telangana HC Extends Bail to Bhujanga Rao
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday extended the interim bail granted to N. Bhujanga Rao, accused in the phone-tapping case, till November 18 on medical grounds.
On Wednesday, the Nampally Metropolitan Sessions Court had dismissed his petition seeking extension of interim bail and directed him to surrender by 4.30 pm on Thursday. Bhujanga Rao moved the High Court by way of a lunch motion petition.
Bhujanga Rao’s counsel said the police official’s health was deteriorating and his condition would be further affected if sent to prison. He was a heart patient and was also suffering a kidney ailment; doctors had advised him to undergo dialysis and his creatine levels were increasing, counsel said.
Public prosecutor Palle Nageshwar Rao opposed the petition saying he did not have the time to read the file and get instructions. He said that his regular bail petition was dismissed on October 10, and that the lower court had directed the petitioner to surrender.
In another petition, Justice K. Sujana adjourned the criminal petition seeking bail filed by P. Radha Kishan Rao, another accused in the phone-tapping case, to November 18.
