Phones to get cheaper after union budget
Customs duty on essential parts of mobile phones and TVs were either cut or removed.

Hyderabad: For those waiting festival-time discounts, the Union Budget carried with it a surprise reduction in certain rates that could translate into price cuts for most commonly used gadgets.
Customs duty on essential parts of mobile phones and TVs were either cut or removed. However, duty on flat panel displays used in computer monitors and televisions have increased by 10 per cent.
An engineering student from JNTU, Vikas, told Deccan Chronicle, “Not stealing it from a meme, but there was a time quite literally when my brother I would go to Dubai only to buy a mobile phone. Even television sets were expensive and there have been times when even companies would not cooperate for return, exchange and even repairs. This has come as a big relief to all of us. It also promotes sustainability greatly.”
For Anish, a private company employee, the Budget was delightful for the middle class, particularly the income tax rates revision and the increased list of capital goods excempted from customs duty.
“I had thought of waiting for a festival to buy electronics at discounted prices. But this move has come as a sort of festive surprise for those looking to buy phones and other electronics items.”
