Plea Against Silence on EWS Quota in Medical Seats
Hyderabad: Kamareddy BJP MLA Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy filed a petition before the Telangana High Court seeking directions to the Union and state governments to issue guidelines or amendments to GOs of rules for admissions into MBBS, BDS and PG Medical courses for the academic year 2024-25 by implementing EWS (Economically weaker section) reservations.
He complained that despite the communication addressed by the Kaloji Narayana Rao University for Health Sciences (KNRHS) for guidelines and regulations for admission into colleges affiliated to KNRHS under competent authority quota, the state and union governments had not taken any action.
He brought to the notice of the court that the authority has not specified 10 per cent reservation of EWS category of implementation by NMC of total seats in government medical and dental colleges in Telangana.
The High Court heard the petition on Monday and directed the counsels for the state and union governments to submit their contentions.
