PMJ Dacoity Accused Misled Probe: Karimnagar CP

The Commissioner said a petition would be filed before a Karimnagar court seeking further police custody for continued investigation

ADILABAD: Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam on Sunday said the accused in the PMJ jewellery store dacoity tried to mislead investigators by withholding key details about the stolen ornaments and financial transactions.

He said the accused identified as Subodh Singh, Raghunath Karmakar and Ravish Kumar were questioned between June 3 and 7, during which they did not disclose where the gold and diamond jewellery was hidden or to whom it was sold.

Police said inconsistencies were found in the statements of A-1, A-2 and A-3. The Commissioner said a petition would be filed before a Karimnagar court seeking further police custody for continued investigation.

He said A-2 had retracted an earlier claim that the stolen property was hidden in the Gundala forest area, and alleged that the accused were deliberately providing misleading information.

Based on inputs from the accused, police recovered two pistols from bushes near Velichala bypass road and a mobile phone from a forest area under Maddunur gram panchayat in Buggaram mandal.

Police also said A-10, identified as Amarsingh, 43, was arrested from Salimpur in Patna district, Bihar, on a transit warrant and brought to Karimnagar.

The investigation is continuing.
