Pocso Case: Bandi Vows Legal Course, Alleges Political Targeting

Sanjay asserted that he does not support wrongdoing, even within his family. “Everyone is equal before the law. If a mistake is committed, they must face the consequences and abide by the court’s decision,” he said.

Karimnagar: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday responded emotionally to the Pocso Act case filed against his son, Bandi Sai Bageerath, saying that while he respects the law, he will not tolerate what he described as politically motivated attempts to target his family.

Speaking at the Hindu Ekta Yatra in Karimnagar, the minister said his son was currently under depression and alleged that there was a concerted effort to portray him as a criminal.

Sanjay asserted that he does not support wrongdoing, even within his family. “Everyone is equal before the law. If a mistake is committed, they must face the consequences and abide by the court’s decision,” he said.

At the same time, he said he blamed himself for not spending enough time with his son due to his public life. He appealed for public understanding, adding that his son maintains his innocence and will contest the case in court.

The minister also accused political rivals of targeting his family and warned of consequences. Using a metaphor from the Ramayana, he said attempts to harm his family would ultimately backfire on those responsible. He added that despite facing multiple cases and imprisonment in the past, he remained undeterred.

Referring to the 16th annual Hindu Ekta Yatra, Sanjay highlighted the participation of the Hindu community and called for continued unity. The procession began at Vysya Bhavan, passed through key landmarks, including Rajiv Chowk, Tower Circle, Ganj and the Martyrs’ Memorial, and concluded at the starting point, featuring cultural performances along the route.

He also referred to his public outreach, noting that he had walked 1,600 km across Telangana despite health challenges, and reaffirmed his commitment to what he described as the cause of Hindu Dharma.
