Hyderabad:In the honour killing case, police identified the accused based on his car’s registration number and arrested him and his associate for murdering woman constable Kongara Nagamani. The number plate of the accused’s car, and weapon used in the murder were found on the scene of murder.
During interrogation, the accused Kongara Paramesh, 25, who is the younger brother of the victim, confessed that he was angered by his elder sister Nagamani’s marriage against his will and was waiting for a right opportunity. To put his plans into action, he sought his friend Achana Shiva’s help to monitor the victim’s movements, said D Sunitha Reddy, DCP Maheshwaram.
The DCP said, “We seized bloodstained clothes, a knife and a bumper with number plate TS09FH 0257. We also seized a Mahindra XUV300 car bearing No. TS-09-FH-0257, and an iPhone-15 from his possession,” the DCP said.
In 2014, Nagamani was married to her maternal uncle in Patelguda village. But due to matrimonial disputes, she returned back to her village. However, his brother shifted her to a hostel in Hayathnagar, DCP further said.
Later, she filed for a divorce and got the decree in 2022. During her stay at Raipole, Nagamani came in contact with Bandari Srikanth (complainant), who belongs to the Scheduled Caste community, and fell in love with him.
When the accused came to know about his sister’s love affair withSrikanth, he admonished her and forced her to get married within their community. But Nagamani refused to heed and returned one acre land that was given to her during her marriage in 2014..
Paramash got furious when his sister married Srikanth on November 10 against his will.
The accused was further enraged when Nagamani demanded her land back. As a result, he hatched a plan to eliminate Nagamani for which he purchased a knife (Kammakathi). He kept it in his car and waited for the right opportunity and killed his sister brutally.
The Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case under section 103 (1) against Paramesh and Achana and produced them before court for judicial remand.
