Police bust interstate ganja racket at Secunderabad railway station, 1 held
Railway police seize 3.859kgs of ganja from arrested person

Hyderabad: An interstate ganja smuggling racket operated from Odisha to Secunderabad was busted by the Government Railway Police with the arrest of a person at Secunderabad Railway Station on Wednesday. As many as 3.859kgs of ganja worth Rs.96,475 was seized from the possession of the arrested person.
The arrested has been identified as Lambodar Jena, 43, a private employee and native of Bhitargarh Village in Odisha, according to Secunderabad Government Railway Police Inspector B. Saieashwar Goud.
Goud said the accused was born and brought up in Odisha. At a young age, he moved to Bangalore and worked in a rebar unit for 18 years. A year ago, he shifted to Hyderabad to do the same work, as his salary was higher than in Bangalore.
At his workplace, several unknown people and colleagues frequently approached asking for ganja. In November 2024, his mother passed away. He then went to his native village to attend the funeral rites. On Monday, he went to Kendrapara forest area and purchased four kgs of ganja, each Rs.1,000 per kg from an unknown person.
Then he travelled to Bhubaneswar railway station by bus, where he boarded Konark Express to Secunderabad. On Tuesday, at around 2.45 pm, the Konark Express train arrived at Secunderabad. He de-boarded the train and was leaving the railway station through the general waiting hall on platform one when the police personnel apprehended him.
