Police officers punished for coming late to meeting
Nizamabad: Tardiness at a recent meeting convened by Nizamabad police commissioner Ch. Sindhu Sharma resulted in an unexpected punishment for several Station House Officers (SHOs).
The in-charge commissioner directed the latecomers to complete five rounds of running on the police parade grounds as a disciplinary measure. In the presence of armed reserve police officers, six SHOs performed the rounds. However, only younger officers were subjected to the punishment, while senior officers were spared.
Out of the 33 SHOs in the district, six faced the reprimand. A trainee IPS officer also attended the meeting.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Ch. Sindhu Sharma emphasised the importance of discipline in the police force. “Discipline is mandatory for police officers. We will not tolerate indiscipline among uniformed forces,” she stated.
