Politics heat up for MLC elections

Nizamabad: In the backdrop of the election schedule declared for Legislative Council of graduates undivided Karimnagar-Adilabad-Nizamabad-Medak districts, political activity heats up in north Telangana districts. Election notification will be released on February 3 after conducting filing of nominations, withdrawal and polling will be conducted on February 27.

Around dozen candidates seriously trying for MLC post as they picked up election campaign in undivided Karimnagar-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Medak districts. BJP declared Anji Reddy as its MLC candidate and BRS, Congress parties have not yet declared their nominees. Private educational institutions owner V.Narender Reddy, former DSP Madanam Gangadhar, Prasanna Harikrishna and others began election campaign.

Sitting MLC T.Jeevan Reddy will complete his tenure on March 29, but new election process will be conducted in February. Followers of Jeevan Reddy are hopeful that Congress party high command will field Jeevan Reddy for second term as graduates of MLC. BRS will declare its candidate or away from the MLC election is not yet decided.

TPCC president B.Mahesh Kumar Goud said that they sent proposals to the party high command on MLC elections and it would declare soon. Urging the voters for first preferential vote, the aspirants set up flexi boards in all the districts. Highlighting their qualifications and achievements, the aspirants took up election campaigns.

On the other hand, respective district administrations made all arrangements for MLC elections. Voters list, polling stations, counting of votes and other details readied for the poll process. Interestingly, three major political parties-Congress, BJP, BRS and Independent candidates are seriously trying for victory in elections.
