Ponnam Urges Congress Cadre to Focus on Grassroots for Local Polls
KARIMNAGAR: Backward Class welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar called on Congress workers to focus on strengthening the party and securing victory in the upcoming local body elections. Speaking to key party workers in Saidapur mandal of Husnabad constituency, Karimnagar district, on Thursday, he emphasised the need for a grassroots approach.
The minister urged workers to ensure Congress wins in every village and captures all sarpanch posts by connecting with people from all sections of society. He stressed on the importance of spreading awareness about state government welfare schemes, such as farm loan waivers, the filling of 55,000 job vacancies, free bus travel, 200 units of free electricity, and gas connections for 500 families.
Highlighting farmer-centric initiatives, Prabhakar noted that the government provides a Rs 500 bonus for paddy, with payments deposited into farmers' accounts within 24 hours. He also mentioned increased diet charges for school students and timely salary disbursements for government employees.
The minister outlined future plans, including the ongoing Indiramma Housing Survey, issuance of new ration cards, and the rollout of Rythu Bharosa support for farmers after Sankranti. Additionally, he announced plans to establish water plants in every village to improve access to clean drinking water.
