Power sector officials told to meet summer demand

Hyderabad:Sandeep Kumar Sultania, principal secretary, energy, on Tuesday directed power utilities to meet the expected increase in loads during the upcoming summer season.

During the review meeting held at Vidyut Soudha, Sultania expressed satisfaction over the present power supply position in the state during the Rabi season and further directed field engineers of Genco, Transco, and the southern and northern discoms to continue to maintain quality and reliable power supply.

“All out measures shall be taken up to reduce the 33KV and 11KV interruptions to the possible extent. In case of any feeder breakdowns, the Centralized Breakdown (CBD) staff shall rush to the spot and rectify the faults and restore the normal power supply immediately. There should not be any lapse in extending value added services to all categories of consumers,” Sultania cautioned.

The Transco officials have apprised him that ongoing 400KV, 220KV & 132KV Substation augmentation works will be completed before the onset of summer and associated Extra High Voltage (EHT) lines will be laid on top priority.

Keeping in view the rapid growth of electricity demand especially in GHMC area, the discom officials have given a detailed presentation about distribution network of SPDCL and NPDCL duly analysing the problems faced in the past and identifying the likely issues to be faced in up-coming summer season along with proposed action plan to be implemented to avoid recurrence of such problems..

CMDs D. Krishna Bhaskar of TG Transco; Musharraf Ali Faruqui of TG SPDCL; K. Varun Reddy of TG NPDCL and C. Srinivasa Rao, joint managing director of TG Transco, directors of the power utilities and chief engineers attended the review meeting.
