Prajavani solved 60% issues: Official

According to official data, its inception on December 8, 2023, by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, a day after he took over, 84 Prajavani sessions were conducted and 82,955 petitions were received

Hyderabad: Prajavani, the state government’s programme to receive and redress public grievances, has resolved more than half the issues it was presented within the course of a year.

According to official data, its inception on December 8, 2023, by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, a day after he took over, 84 Prajavani sessions were conducted and 82,955 petitions were received. Of these, 43,272 were grievances and the Prajavani helped resolve 27,215 with a 62 per cent success rate.

The platform also addressed 4,713 employee service matters and forwarded 34,970 applications for government schemes to the relevant departments.

During a ceremony to mark one year of the programme on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka interacted with the beneficiaries. Dr G. Chinna Reddy, vice-chairman of the state planning commission, and Divya Devarajan, special officer for Prajavani, participated.

Officials noted that citizens sometimes bypass district authorities due to a lack of awareness or trust. Others believe state-level forums hold more weight in resolving issues. Frequent transfers of district officers and pending cases from previous administrations also lead people to approach Prajavani.

"Some grievances need the attention of senior officers or ministers and this platform ensures their resolution. For example, a family with a Rs 70 lakh medical bill, far beyond district limits, received help through state intervention," said Divya Devarajan to Deccan Chronicle.

“The forum aims to ensure accountability rather than reprimand district officials. Our focus is on resolving issues quickly by fixing responsibility,” she explained. The platform also serves as a review mechanism for district administration, ensuring that grievances are not overlooked. “By bridging the gap between district and state authorities, Prajavani aims to provide timely and effective solutions for citizens,” she noted.

Officials clarified that not all cases qualify as genuine grievances. Some are petitions for new schemes or arise from misinformation. The forum works to identify serious cases and redirect others to the proper channels, they added.
