Preparations ready at Basar temple for Vasanth Panchami

Adilabad: Officials in Nirmal district made elaborate arrangements at Basar temple on the occasion of Vasanth Panchami that began Saturday and will continue till February 3. The birthday of goddess Saraswathi is celebrated as Vasanth Panchami.

Officials focused on the cleaning of the Pushkar Ghats and Godavari water where devotees take holy dips. District officials took measures to guide devotees in queues to have smooth darshan.

Devotees visiting Basar temple have been complaining about poor sanitation at Pushkara Ghats with bad smell emitting from water and garbage dumps. Lakhs of devotees are expected to attend Vasanth Panchami on February 3.

Nirmal collector Abilasha Abhinav, who inspected the Ghats, instructed officials to maintain sanitation at the Ghats, set up rooms for changing clothes and keep professional swimmers ready to save lives of devotees, in case of drowning and set up lighting for the benefit of devotees.

She also instructed officials to set up breastfeeding rooms for mothers on the temple premises and take measures for hassle-free darshan for devotees. She made it clear that safety and security of the devotees is very important.

Mudhole MLA Ramarao Patel inspected the Pushkar Ghats and urged party workers to make the premises green. It is said that Keesara Gutta temple EO Sudhakar Reddy took the charge for Basar temple on Friday.
