Prez Murmu to undertake 5-day sojourn in Hyderabad from Dec 17
Hyderabad: President Droupadi Murmu will arrive here on December 17 for the traditional five-day southern sojourn at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolaram, until December 21. President Murmu is expected to attend official engagements, and all efforts were being made to ensure her stay was smooth and secure.
Officials were directed to work in close coordination to ensure the arrangements are made in a befitting and satisfactory manner. State and Central government agencies were urged to collaborate effectively to address all potential challenges before the President's arrival.
Security was a top priority, with the police department instructed to implement robust measures, including traffic management and a comprehensive bandobast plan. The fire department was told to station fire tenders and firefighting personnel at all venues, while the health department will ensure the presence of qualified doctors and support staff.
The roads and buildings (R&B) department was directed to handle road repairs, barricading, and other logistical tasks in coordination with the GHMC and police. The municipal administration and urban development department will oversee cleanliness in the vicinity of Rashtrapati Nilayam, while the energy department was asked to guarantee uninterrupted power supply at all venues.
The meeting was attended by DGP Dr Jitender, special chief secretaries Ravi Gupta (home) and Vikas Raj (R&B), DG, fire services, V. Nagi Reddy, GAD secretary M. Raghunandan Rao, special commissioner (I&PR) S.Harish, director of protocol, S. Venkat Rao, and other senior officials.
In preparation for the visit, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari chaired a meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat on Tuesday to review the arrangements.
The Chief Secretary stressed the need for extensive preparations, particularly addressing concerns over the presence of snakes, monkeys, and bee hives in and around the Rashtrapati Nilayam. The forest department was instructed to deploy snake catchers who will remain stationed at the premises round the clock during the President's stay.
