Probe irregularities in Tribal gurukul school appointments: Unions
Hyderabad:Serious allegations of corruption and procedural violations in outsourcing appointments at tribal gurukul schools have prompted the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Telangana Tribal Welfare Association (TWA) to demand an immediate inquiry. Claiming that 40 positions were created without necessity or official notification, the organisations alleged that these appointments bypassed government norms and were shrouded in irregularities.
R.L. Murthy, state president of SFI, said, “These appointments were made under the direct orders of the principal secretary of the tribal welfare department, dated November 14, 2024, without following the prescribed procedure. The lack of transparency raises serious concerns about misuse of power.”
The organisations alleged that bribes ranging from `2 lakh to `5 lakh were paid for each post, with school principals pressured to onboard the appointees. “Principals are now left confused about salary disbursement and are being forced to accept these appointments without clarity on funding sources,” said T. Nagaraju, SFI state secretary.
Political interference also appears to have played a role, with several posts allocated based on MLA recommendations, particularly in the Nalgonda district. “The involvement of politicians and officials has turned this into a breeding ground for corruption, with millions exchanged illegally,” said M. Dharma Naik, president of the TWA.
Both organisations called for a comprehensive investigation to uncover the facts and ensure those responsible are held accountable. “The government must act immediately to investigate these violations and punish those involved, no matter their position,” demanded R. Sriram Naik, general secretary of TWA.
