Prof. Mallesham Pledges Reforms for Telangana Universities

Hyderabad: Prof. Gaddam Mallesham, newly elected vice-president of the Telangana Gazetted Officers Association (TGOs) central executive body, on Sunday, pledged to address key issues plaguing universities. He vowed to advocate for the immediate recruitment of vacant teaching positions, push for enhancing the retirement age for professors to 65 years, and resolve pending medical and pension benefits for university employees.

In his new role, Prof. Mallesham emphasised the importance of collective efforts, stating that university unions across the state would work closely with TGOs to persuade the government to implement long-overdue reforms.

Prof. Mallesham has served as president of the Telangana All Universities Teachers Association (TAUTA) and as vice-president of the Osmania University Teachers Association (OUTA), highlighting concerns over faculty and student welfare, equitable resource allocation and employee rights.

Prof. Mallesham thanked TGOs president Eluri Srinivas, general secretary Satyanarayana and associate president B. Shyam for their support.
