Nizamabad: Justice Shamim Akhtar announced that a comprehensive report on Scheduled Castes (SC) classification will be submitted soon, incorporating opinions from various sections of society.
The state government appointed Justice Akhtar, a retired High Court judge, as a one-member commission on SC classification. On Thursday, he conducted a public hearing at the district integrated offices complex.
SC elected representatives, government employees, teachers, doctors, advocates, and SC organisation leaders from Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts participated in the hearing, presenting their views and submitting memorandums.
Groups like Mala, Madiga, Jangam, Chindula, Beda Budaga Jangam, Bhaindla, and Mangulu contributed, with some, including Budaga Jangalu and Bhaindla members, attending in traditional attire.
Objections to the proposed classification were also raised. District collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, additional collector Ankith, and other officials were present at the event.
