Push CBI To Take Up KLIS Probe, CM Tells Officials
Revanth Reddy suggested that if need be, ministers should seek an appointment with the CBI director and hand over the request from the state government, according to a news release from the Chief Minister’s Office.

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to step up efforts to ensure that the Central Bureau of Investigation took up the state government’s request to probe various aspects of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme (KLIS).Revanth Reddy’s decision came following a review on Monday, during which he discussed the prospects for the CBI taking up investigation with ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu, senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhivi, and senior officials along with his adviser and Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy.
The Chief Minister noted that the legal opinion was that since there were no cases pending before any court on the Kaleshwaram project, the CBI should have no objections to taking up the investigation as sought by the state government. He also instructed the officials to write to the CBI on this matter.

During the discussions, Singhvi, who joined the review over a video link, made it clear that the Telangana High Court in its recent judgment in a related case, had not questioned the setting up of the Justice P.C. Ghose commission of inquiry into the project irregularities, and also did not, in its orders, find fault with the commission’s report. This being the case, the commission and its report remained valid, was the legal opinion arrived at during the discussions, the release said.
Among those who attended the meeting were Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, CM’s principal secretary V. Seshadri, CM’s secretary K. Manicka Raj, irrigation adviser Adityanath Das, and principal secretary, irrigation, E. Sridhar.
