Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) urged passengers to purchase railway tickets through the R-Wallet in the UTS Mobile App and avail a three per cent cashback. SCR introduced the cashback offer on Tuesday to encourage the use of the app for booking unreserved tickets.
According to railway officials, the app was launched in 2016 at 26 suburban stations in Hyderabad and extended to all non-suburban stations in July 2018, enabling passengers to book platform, journey and season tickets across all UTS stations under SCR. For the convenience of unreserved passengers, the app now supports paperless ticket booking for destinations across Indian Railways.
In the 2023–24 financial year (April to January), an average of 83,510 passengers per day used the UTS mobile app. In the current financial year (2024–25), this figure has risen to 93,487 passengers per day, marking a 12 per cent increase in app usage for ticket purchases.
