Deceased Constable's Kidney, Liver Donated
Hyderabad: The family members of 40-year-old constable P. Prashant Reddy, working in Kandukur police station, donated his liver and kidney to Jeevandan, after the father of two succumbed to accident injuries at a corporate hospital, here on Saturday.
The constable suffered serious injuries in a hit and run road accident that took place on the Srisailam highway at the airport crossroads on December 29.
The incident occurred when Prashant Reddy was returning home in Uppal on his motorcycle after completing duty.
A 2003-batch constable, Prashant Reddy is survived by his wife and two children, Kandukur inspector K. Seetharam said. He was posted in Kandukur for the last four years.
Rachakonda commissioner G. Sudheer Babu appreciated the constable’s family for their life-saving gesture. "Despite losing their family head, Prashant's kin came forward to save the lives of other persons suffering from serious health problems. Giving life to another person through an organ donation is a great thing and it is highly appreciable,” the police commissioner said.
Sudheer Babu sanctioned Rs.90,000 for funeral expenses. Maheshwaram ACP P. Laxmikantha Reddy attended the funeral later in the day.
