Hyderabad: Rachakonda police commissioner G. Sudhir Babu distributed 500 light-weight stetson hats to Rachakonda traffic police on Monday as part of the welfare measures. Also known as cowboy hats, they are worn by the police in several states.
The commissioner had previously enquired about the difficulties faced by the traffic police staff and responded immediately to complaints about the weight of the helmets.
The weight of the white helmets was around 365 grams while the hats weigh 165 grams. “These hats are easy to use and more comfortable,” said a press release issued by the Rachakonda police commissioner.
Sudhir Babu said, “The welfare of field-level staff is our priority and these hats are a small appreciation for the hard work of the staff putting in managing the traffic in Rachakonda jurisdiction.”( Source : Deccan Chronicle )
