Radial roads to link ORR with RRR: Komatireddy

Hyderabad: The state government is set to construct radial roads to link Hyderabad ORR with the regional ring road (RRR).

This came up when roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy conducted a review meeting on pending national and state highway projects and speeding up works on Uppal and Amberpet flyovers with officials here on Wednesday.

Later, he said that he had discussed with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on plans to construct RRR and build radial roads linking ORR with RRR. He said that in an effort to reduce traffic woes and ease traffic movement they will be constructing more roads in the state, he said.

"As regards NH-65 as a green field highway, we have started works related to black spots. If roads are bad, people will not call the contractor or officers but blame the government. We will maintain constant vigil on construction works and direct officers to swear by quality," the minister said.

A review is underway on the ongoing works of national highways. There are 30 NHs spread over 4,983 km in the state.

The minister asked the authorities about the progress on the Uppal elevated corridor front. Works on the Amberpet flyover are nearing completion, he said, adding that traffic movement will be allowed within a month.

Works on the 1.15 km Hyderabad–Bangalore NH and vehicle underpass (black spot) were 50 per cent complete, officials said.
