Rain No Obstacle for Ganeshas Across Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Oblivious of the incessant rain, devotees across the city are welcoming idols of Lord Ganesha to their respective pandals with band, baja and dhols
Meanwhile, sales of idols of varying sizes are at their peak with the 11-day festivities slated to commence on Saturday.
On their part, government agencies are ensuring that all arrangements are in place for peaceful and trouble-free celebrations.
At Dhoolpet artisans were giving finishing touches to the big idols. They said that despite hindrances caused by the heavy rains, they will deliver the idols on the promised date.
Following city incharge minister Ponam Prabhakar’s call to the citizens to go in for clay idols, HMDA and GHMC have been distributing clay idols in various localities free of cost.
Mitraangan Dhol Tasha Pathak, a traditional Maharashtrian performance to welcome Lord Ganesha, was performed at the Khairatabad Ganesha idol pandal on Thursday.
Meanwhile, some organisers of Khairatabad Ganesha festivities met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka and invited them to the celebrations.
Dhoolpet is the hub for idols. Bharat Singh Kalakar’s workshop has been agog with enthusiastic activity since February to deliver their orders in time.
According to Kailash Singh, “rains created hindrance but we managed to deliver on time. We had orders for 100 idols of 18 feet and 150 idols of six feet and above.”
Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi directed the authorities to ensure that there are no shortcomings in the immersion arrangements. GHMC officials visited various ponds and baby ponds earmarked for immersion of idols and oversaw the arrangements.
