Raj Gopal Reddy wants safe water for fluoride hit areas
Nalgonda: Congress MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy emphasised the urgent need to provide safe drinking water to households in fluoride-affected areas following a rise in fluorosis cases. Alongside Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, he held a review meeting at his camp office with officials from Mission Bhagiratha and the health department.
Raj Gopal highlighted that residents often avoid Mission Bhagiratha water due to its muddy appearance or odour, despite filtration efforts. He noted that many still rely on RO (reverse osmosis) plants for drinking water instead of the Mission Bhagiratha overhead tanks. The MLA urged officials to consider these factors to ensure daily safe water supply and to prevent shortages during the summer.
Additionally, Raj Gopal Reddy instructed the health department to enhance healthcare services at local hospitals, community health centres (CHCs), and primary health centres (PHCs). He warned that a lack of trust in government facilities might drive people to costly private hospitals. Plans include upgrading the Chandur PHC to an area hospital and strengthening the CHCs in Marriguda and Choutuppal to better serve the community.
