Ralla Wagu bridge falls, traffic affected in Mulugu District
WARANGAL: The Ralla Wagu bridge at Yakkanna Gudem village in Venkatapuram mandal of Mulugu district partially collapsed, causing a major disruption to vehicular movement between Cherla and Venkatapuram mandals.
The bridge, situated across the Ralla Wagu stream near Yakkanna Gudem, had been deteriorating for some time due to heavy traffic from large vehicles, including sand lorries. The constant wear and tear weakened the structure, ultimately leading to its collapse.
Upon receiving reports from local residents, authorities intervened by closing the bridge and suspending travel between Cherla and Venkatapuram mandals. They urged people travelling from Bhadrachalam to Warangal via Venkatapuram to take an alternate route through Eturnagaram to avoid further congestion and ensure safety.
Meanwhile, officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department assured the public that a temporary diversion route would be established shortly to facilitate smoother movement. Additionally, they committed to starting repair works on the damaged bridge as soon as possible to restore normal transportation between the affected mandals.
