Realtor Arrested for Murder After Staged Accident in Saroornagar
HYDERABAD: Saroornagar police arrested a realtor, M. Shankar, who murdered his rival and tried to make it look like a road accident on October 31. The incident occurred at a bar in Marthandangar, Saroornagar, where Shankar had invited the victim Mekala Eshwar, 38.
According to the police, Shankar and Eshwar argued for finances and left the bar. Shankar took his car out, drove at high speed and ran over Eshwar, who was standing beside the road. When the victim fell on the road, Shankar ran over him with the car again and drove away, said Saroornagar inspector Y. Syedi Reddy.
Eshwar succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in a private hospital on Friday. “We initially assumed it was a traffic accident till we watched the incident from footage from a CCTV camera installed at Marthandanagar crossroads and arrested Shankar," the inspector said.
Police registered a murder case against Shankar and seized his car. Police were also investigating a possible case of sexual jealousy and were questioning Shankar’s friends, the inspector disclosed.
