Realtor held in Cyberabad for duping people with contacts in CBI, ED

Hyderabad: A realtor was arrested by Cyberabad police on charges of duping people including a few government officials on the pretext of helping with his contacts in the Prime Minister's Office and the offices of Chief Ministers in other States.

Forty-year-old Burhanuddin of Banjara Hills displayed the photographs he had taken to VIPs, politicians and government officials offering to help them in all aspects. He also claimed to have contacts with officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED).

In 2016, an IAS officer from Chhattisgarh faced investigation by CBI and on coming to know about it, he met the officials and promised to bail him out of the case with his contacts in PMO. He allegedly collected Rs.1.5 crore from the officer.

He then went to Jharkhand and met a few politicians assuring them to ensure allocation of mining contracts with his links in New Delhi and collected from them. After returning to the city, he came to know that a businessman got a notice from ED.

Burhanuddin met the businessman and collected money from him promising that he would ensure withdrawal of notice issued by the ED. Sensing something suspicious, the businessman enquired about him and found that the realtor was facing several cases in Cyberabad and Hyderabad Police Commissionerates limits.

The realtor was involved in an attempt to murder cases registered in Moinabad in 2023 after allegedly trying to grab land and since then he was absconding. Based on information, the police arrested him and are exploring the possibilities of invoking PD Act against him.
