Relief In Sight For Parched Telangana After 3-Day Intense Heatwave
The IMD said there would be no major change in maximum temperatures during the next three days

Hyderabad: After days of intense heat, the weather bureau indicated isolated rain and thunderstorms later this week. On Sunday, who however, multiple districts reeled under a heatwave, and Komuram Bheem Asifabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts were the hottest with the maximum temperature at 46.5°C and 46.4°C respectively.
Yellow warnings for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph were also issued for several districts, including Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri.
The IMD said there would be no major change in maximum temperatures during the next three days, after which temperatures are likely to gradually fall by 2°C to 3°C.
The Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) said 94 mandals across 14 districts reported heatwave conditions. Bhadradri Kothagudem accounted for 15 mandals, Khammam 12, and Mancherial 10, apart from Suryapet, Nalgonda, Peddapalli, Mulugu and Jagtial districts.
The mercury remained lodged above the 40°C mark across all GHMC circles, with the highest temperature of 42.7°C being recorded in Karwan near the Golconda tahsildar office, while Uppal, Kapra, Gajularamaram and Begumpet crossed 42°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange heatwave warnings for districts including Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Mulugu, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahbubabad, Warangal and Hananmkonda for the next three days.
Amid the high temperatures, isolated rainfall was reported in parts of south Telangana. Basheerabad in Vikarabad district received the highest rainfall at 34.8 mm, while pockets of Mahbubnagar and Jogulamba Gadwal recorded moderate showers.
