Residents Suffer amid Endless Construction in Narsingi and Nearby Areas

Hyderabad: The never-ending construction work in Narsingi, Manikonda, Nanakramguda, and Kothaguda has made daily life a struggle for many residents and shop vendors, who have to bear rock breaking sounds even into the night. People have no choice but to live with the noise and sound.

A woman, who moved to Khanapur in Gandipet a year ago, shared her frustration. “I’m a homemaker. The windows and doors in my house have remained closed from the time I moved in here. It's not just about me; all residents here do the same. Even though windows are never opened, dust keeps coming inside. We have kids and we have to make sure they don’t get sick because of it. I clean the house at regular hours. At night, the noise keeps us awake.” she said.

In Nanakramguda, close to the financial district, a shopkeeper said, “Dust is everywhere. I've learnt how to live with it.”

Raj Reddy, a 55-year-old vendor from near the construction site, told Deccan Chronicle, “The area is developing, but life is tough for people like me.”

But it’s not just about dust and noise. Hyderabad’s unique rock formations, which have stood for centuries, are vanishing too. “These formations are famed worldwide, but we are losing them in the name of development. The city is growing without a plan. It should grow by design, not by accident,” said Veda Kumar Manikonda, chairman, Forum for a Better Hyderabad.

He added, “This rapid expansion is leading to irreversible damage. Without proper planning, construction work will go unchecked. Clean air and water are already becoming scarce. The government talks about reviving rivers like the Musi, but with uncontrolled expansion, that’s almost impossible.”

Meanwhile, attempts to contact officials from the state Pollution Control Board went in vain.
