Hyderabad:CPM politburo members B.V. Raghavulu and state secretariat member S. Veeraiah met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and sought retention of Regional Ring Road (RRR) alignment before going ahead with land acquisition. Revanth Reddy reportedly pointed out that a decision on the issue has been taken and expressed his readiness to increase the compensation offered to those losing land.
They also discussed the issues of power charges for Sircilla power loom workers and housing plots for journalists.
Explaining the concerns of Sircilla power looms they informed that the recent increase in charges from `2 to `8.30 per unit would affect 30,000 of them. Clearing of payments pending for the last ten years is a priority as the crisis has led to closure of many looms.
In another release, the party asked the state government to reconsider giving the 3,000 acre Damagundam forest land in Vikarabad district to the navy radar station. This, it said, would lead to extinction of lakhs of trees and wild animals and even affect river Musi.
