Revanth Blames KCR for Krishna Water Diversion by AP
CM accuses Chandrashekar Rao of compromising Krishna water rights, and dares BRS to debate governance records.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, accusing them of failing on all fronts and compromising Telangana’s interests.
Addressing a public meeting in Narayanpet on Friday, he alleged that Rao had played a key role in the diversion of Krishna river water to Andhra Pradesh and was now shedding "crocodile tears" over the issue.
Revanth Reddy said that Chandrashekar Rao had colluded with former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy before the bifurcation of the state and later with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as Chief Minister of AP.
He accused Chandrashekar Rao of facilitating the transfer of Krishna water to Rayalaseema through the Pothireddypadu and Rayalaseema lift irrigation projects, stating, “When YSR diverted Krishna water, KCR’s party was part of YSR’s government. When Jagan diverted Krishna water, Rao was Telangana’s CM. He even hosted Jagan at Pragathi Bhavan, permitting him to divert water. His priority was amassing wealth through commissions rather than safeguarding Telangana’s water rights.”
Revanth Reddy also criticised Chandrashekar Rao for agreeing to a Krishna water allocation of only 200 tmc ft to Telangana while allowing Andhra Pradesh to receive 500 tmc ft (thousand million cubic ft).
“If he had completed pending irrigation projects like the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project, there would have been no scope for Andhra Pradesh to divert Krishna water,” he said.
Revanth Reddy challenged Chandrashekar Rao and Telangana BJP leaders, including Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, to a public debate comparing the governance records of BRS (10 years) in Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi (11 years) at the Centre, and the Congress government (one year). He vowed to “rub his nose on the ground” if he lost the debate.
He accused Modi of making several promises since 2014 but had failed to fulfill them.
“Modi promised to bring back black money and deposit it in the accounts of the poor. He assured farmers that their income would be doubled. He promised two crore jobs per year. Did he fulfill any of these,” Revanth Reddy questioned.
Defending the Congress government's performance in Telangana over the past year, he highlighted his achievements, including 55,000 government jobs provided to unemployed youth, women-led management of Amma Adarsh Schools and ownership of 600 RTC buses by women SHGs, revival of the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation scheme to irrigate 1.7 lakh acres, nearing completion, allocation of five lakh Indiramma houses annually, with 3,500 houses per Assembly constituency and conducting a caste census to enhance BC reservations and addressing long-pending SC categorisation issues.
In an electoral challenge, Reddy dared Rao to field BRS candidates in the upcoming local body elections only in villages where the BRS government built 2BHK houses.
“Congress will contest only in villages where the previous Congress governments constructed Indiramma houses between 2004 and 2014. BRS should contest only in villages where it had built 2bhk houses in the last 10 years. Is KCR ready to accept this challenge? The Congress built 25 lakh Indiramma houses in Telangana, while Rao had failed to provide homes to the poor,” he said.
Revanth Reddy accused Chandrashekar Rao of neglecting Palamuru region and having failed to complete the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, turning the district into a “desert.” He also alleged that BRS leaders were obstructing its completion.
“The BRS leaders are restless seeing Palamuru turning green. They were agitated when a son of Palamuru became the Chief Minister. But I assure the people that we will develop Palamuru with government funds,” Reddy said.
He urged people to teach a lesson to those who conspired against Telangana’s interests.
“I took on the responsibility of serving the people, and they must take the responsibility of protecting me,” he said.
