'Revanth Broke Vows to Gods on Farm Loan Waiver'

I will seek forgiveness from Gods for the people: Harish

Hyderabad: Former minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday declared that he would atone for “the sins committed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy who took oaths in the names of various Gods and Goddesses that he will implement loan waiver to all farmers but failed to keep his vows.”

In a statement, Harish Rao said “I am afraid that Revanth Reddy not keeping his promises to Gods might affect Telangana and its people. I will visit the temples of every God and Goddess that Revanth took an oath to seek forgiveness for the Chief Minister's mistakes.”

On Revanth Reddy targeting him at the public meeting in Wrya on Thursday, Harish Rao said “using vulgar language or displaying anger against BRS will not turn Revanth’s lies into truth. He betrayed farmers by first promising a waiver of `40,000 crore and then cut it to `31,000 crore. But he does not have the culture to apologise.”

Calling Revanth Reddy “the most disgraceful Chief Minister in the history of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” Harish Rao said “Revanth Reddy first promised to waive farmer loans by December 9 as a gift for Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. When he couldn’t fulfill this, he staged another drama saying he would do so by August 15 but cut the amount by `9,000 crore. By breaking his oaths, Revanth Reddy has exposed his true nature, which is lying, cheating, and breaking promises.”

Harish Rao said in its first term, the BRS government waived loans up to `1 lakh for 35 lakh farmers by spending nearly `17,000 crore. “If the Congress government is truly waiving loans up to `2 lakh, it should cost much more than what it is claiming it has spent. This shows that Revanth’s loan waiver promise is a blatant lie.”

On the Chief Minister asking Harish Rao to resign as MLA as the loan waiver promise has now been fulfilled, the BRS leader addressing Revanth Reddy, said: “Now that it’s clear you have deceived the public, who should resign? Who should take responsibility?”
