Revanth Inks Deals with Zoetis and Stanford Varsity

Zoetis’ India capability centre coming up in Hyderabad next month

HYDERABAD: Zoetis Inc, global leader in animal health, announced expansion of Zoetis India capability centre in Hyderabad and creation of hundreds of new jobs, during the tour of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to the United States seeking investments for Telangana.

Stanford Byers Centre for Biodesign at Stanford University announced its collaboration with the state government in establishing the Young India Skills University and life sciences university.

The Revanth Reddy-led delegation also visited Google headquarters in California.

Monarch Tractors, a US-based driver-optional electric tractor company, discussed plans to expand its existing R&D centre in Hyderabad, creating more high-tech jobs. The Monarch team, during its meeting with Revanth Reddy, announced the setting up of an autonomous tractor testing facility in Hyderabad to complement the R&D work.

Praveen Penmetsa, CEO of Monarch Tractors, handed over a letter of intent to explore setting up a manufacturing facility in Telangana.

Scheduled to open next month, the Zoetis expanded facility will bolster the company's innovative technology portfolio, solidifying its commitment to advancing animal health globally. The announcement was made during a meeting with Revanth Reddy, minister for industries and commerce D. Sridhar Babu and senior government officials.

Revanth Reddy said, “We are delighted with Zoetis' decision to expand their India capability centre in Hyderabad. This is a testament to the thriving ecosystem we have cultivated in Telangana, where businesses can grow and innovate. Zoetis' investment in futuristic technologies aligns with our vision of making Hyderabad a global hub for advanced technologies and life sciences.”

Keith Sarbaugh, chief information officer of Zoetis, highlighted the strategic choice of Hyderabad, saying, “Hyderabad is the ideal location for our India capability centre, offering a wealth of talent and an incredible life sciences innovation ecosystem.”

Anil Raghav, vice-president and head of the India capability centre, highlighted the centre’s role in driving global innovation.

“By leveraging the world-class talent available in Hyderabad, our centre will drive innovation and pioneer transformative advancements, ensuring sustainable growth and a competitive edge for Zoetis worldwide while contributing to the development of the region,” he said.

Sridhar Babu expressed his support for the expansion, stating, “Zoetis’ commitment to creating new jobs in the coming years reflects the confidence global companies have in Telangana’s business-friendly environment. I urge the talented workforce of Telangana to join Zoetis and create the future of animal healthcare.”

The discussions with senior representatives of Stanford Byers Centre for Biodesign at Stanford University explored potential collaborations that could reshape the future of healthcare and life sciences in Telangana.

The discussions centred around forming strategic partnerships to establish the upcoming skills university and a life sciences university. A key focus was on integrating Stanford’s globally recognised bio-design innovation process into Telangana’s academic and healthcare ecosystems, potentially transforming the region into a leader in medical technology and innovation.

Dr Anurag Mairal and Dr Josh Makower, who led the Stanford Byers Centre for Biodesign team, expressed a strong interest in collaborating with the Government of Telangana.

In a letter presented to the Chief Minister on the occasion, Dr Makower commended Telangana’s focus on building a robust medical device industry that not only fostered innovation but also created high-value employment opportunities. He said that the state’s ongoing support for medical device education, innovation, and manufacturing aligns well with Stanford Biodesign’s mission.

Revanth Reddy shared his vision for the collaboration, stating, "Telangana is at the forefront of innovation and industry in India. By partnering with global leaders like Stanford Biodesign, we aim to equip our youth with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly evolving healthcare sector.."

Sridhar Babu highlighted the transformative potential of the partnership.

The meeting also delved into the possibilities of establishing knowledge exchange programmes, initiating joint research projects, and a potential satellite centre for Stanford Biodesign in Telangana.

In a related development, Revanth Reddy also expressed his enthusiasm about visiting Google Cloud headquarters, where he was engaged in discussions on technology, artificial intelligence, and skill development to drive Telangana’s growth in these areas.
