Revanth leaving school education in the lurch, alleges Harish

Hyderabad: BRS legislator T. Harish Rao criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for the state government’s failure to cater to the needs of school education. He said that insufficient facilities, shortage of teachers, books, uniforms, drinking water supply and delay in payment of salaries have become common.

In a release here on Sunday, Rao said, “The CM, who holds the education portfolio, is more interested in politics than in solving people’s problems. The government hasn’t done anything new in the last seven months and has failed to continue the good work done earlier by the BRS government, which had started the ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ programme that is now left neglected. Students are being served damaged rice and are being denied eggs in midday meals. The breakfast scheme that had started in 27,000 schools has been stopped.”

He added that the government has to pay wages to 54,201 midday meal cooks, provision and egg bills for the last seven months in government schools. He sought honouring the promise of free power to schools, resumption of the ‘CM Breakfast’ scheme and payment of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan dues that have accrued over the last four months.
