Revanth Questions Bail to Kavitha in 5 Months
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, referring to the bail granted to BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam, expressed scepticism over the speed of the legal process.
Speaking to media persons, in an informal chat in his chambers, Revanth Reddy said, "It took 15 months for Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to get bail, and even Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is still waiting. Yet, Kavitha managed to secure bail in just five months. It raises questions about possible behind-the-scenes support of the BJP," Revanth remarked.
He further alleged that the BRS had clandestinely supported the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana, citing BRS leader Harish Rao’s involvement in securing eight seats for the BJP.
In a direct challenge to Rama Rao, Revanth Reddy invited him to visit Kodangal and engage directly with local farmers.
"KTR should come to Kodangal and see for himself the conditions. Even his father KCR doesn't seem to trust him," Revanth Reddy taunted, adding that his administration has no involvement in the Valmiki scam in Karnataka.
He said there are rumours of connections between BRS leaders and the Valmiki scam and hinted at the alleged involvement of BRS leaders in narcotic drug-related activities in Bangalore.
Revanth Reddy sought to draw a clear line between himself and Chandrashekar Rao emphasising his position as the Chief Minister and dismissing comparisons between them.
"I am the Chief Minister of the state. KCR, on the other hand, is the Leader of the Opposition. KCR is taking public money as salary to discharge duties as LoP. He should be out fighting for the people. He should not rest in a farmhouse and use public money for personal gain," he said.
Revanth Reddy also criticised BRS activists for organising protests over the crop loan waiver issue, accusing them of being disconnected from the real concerns of farmers.
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the loan waiver, stating that his government has fulfilled its promise by waiving loans up to Rs 2 lakh. He called for transparency and accountability from his political opponents, particularly Harish Rao, whom he accused of corruption.
"Harish Rao is a defeated thief who fled from the challenge on the loan waiver. My government has kept its word, and it's time for the opposition to come clean on their promises," Revanth Reddy asserted.
