Revanth Reddy: 50,000 Jobs Filled In Telangana in 10 Months
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the Congress government in Telangana has filled 50,000 jobs across various departments within ten months of assuming office.
He was speaking after handing over appointment letters to newly recruited assistant motor vehicle inspectors (AMVIs) in the transport department at the RTA office in Khairatabad here on Monday.
He aimed at former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, and accused them of neglecting recruitment of youth and people’s welfare.
“In the last 10 months, we’ve created employment and provided welfare benefits to people from all sections,” he said, while urging the state’s youth not to follow leaders who were patronising the drug culture. Revanth Reddy referred to an alleged rave party held recently at a farmhouse reportedly associated with Rama Rao’s brother-in-law at Janwada.
“Leaders should be role models, not individuals who celebrate festivals with drugs and liquor,” he said. Responding to Chandrasekhar Rao’s recent comments that people of Telangana had realised what they had lost in the past ten months, Revanth Reddy countered with “Telangana hasn’t lost anything — except four jobs for KCR’s family. Our government has made rapid strides across sectors.”
He pointed out that youth have secured jobs and farmers have benefited from debt-relief through the farm loan waiver initiative.
On Chandrasekhar Rao not attending Assembly sessions, the Chief Minister said, “We usually see students skipping schools and colleges. It’s peculiar to see the main opposition leader in Telangana skipping Assembly sessions. This isn’t just absenteeism; it is about evading duty as the leader of the opposition.”
He said that the joy among families of the newly employed youth marked a personally fulfilling achievement.
Revanth Reddy appealed to newly recruited AMVIs to inspire youth in their villages to prioritise education and government recruitment exams, stressing the value of knowledge. He urged youth to avoid idolising leaders involved in drug abuse and instead remember individuals like Srikanta Chary, a Telangana movement martyr, as true role models.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of anti-drug initiatives, especially in border regions, and called on the transport department to help maintain Hyderabad’s air quality. He revealed that a new electric vehicle (EV) policy would be launched soon.
In outlining Congress government initiatives, Revanth noted that the free bus travel scheme benefited 1.5 crore women and transformed the debt-ridden RTC into a profit-making entity. Over 49.90 lakh households are getting 200 units of free electricity, with cooking gas cylinders now offered at just Rs 500. Medical support under the Arogyasri scheme has also been enhanced to Rs 10 lakh, he added.
Stressing that education was another key focus area, he spoke of the recent promotions of 21,000 government teachers and transfers of 35,000, along with the construction of Young India Residential Schools in 100 Assembly constituencies.
Criticising the BRS government for focussing on “vaastu” structures like the Secretariat and Pragati Bhavan and neglecting construction of residential schools, he argued that educational institutions should be given priority. He also announced plans to distribute appointment letters soon for the 563 newly selected Group-1 candidates.
The Chief Minister said that the Congress government was committed to supporting farmers, youth, and education, framing these achievements as part of the “reconstruction of Telangana.”
