Revanth Reddy asks officials to develop link roads to meet public needs
CM held a review meeting and made several suggestions on the construction and expansion of proposed 49 roads

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite the construction of link roads in Hyderabad to ease traffic congestion and ensure hassle-free travel for commuters. The focus was on the construction and expansion of link roads network by the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL), as well as the project to reduce traffic congestion on the roads around the KBR Park.
The Chief Minster made several key suggestions while reviewing the progress of work on 49 proposed link roads, during a meeting here on Saturday. He stressed the need for swift and strategic development of the city's road network in line with growing public demands.
He instructed officials to take future urban transport needs into account while planning and constructing the new roads and expanding the existing ones. Revanth Reddy stated that land acquisition for these projects must be completed without delay, even if the land costs were high, in order to avoid disrupting the project timelines.
Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of connecting various parts of the city to provide seamless commuting options and asserted that public convenience must remain the priority in infrastructure development.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the Hyderabad-City Innovative Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) project. As part of the initiative, tenders were floated in February for the construction of flyovers and underpasses around KBR Park at a total cost of ₹1,090 crore. With the tender deadline having ended on March 24, the Chief Minister asked officials to finalise the bids and start work at the earliest.
The H-CITI project, spearheaded by the GHMC, aims to tackle traffic bottlenecks around KBR Park through the construction of flyovers and underpasses at six key junctions, including Jubilee Hills checkpost, KBR Park entrance, and Mugdha Junction. These developments fall under Package-1 and will be executed in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) mode.
In total, the GHMC has proposed 38 infrastructure projects under the H-CITI initiative, valued at ₹5,942 crore. These include grade separators, road widening, underpasses, flyovers, and junction improvements. Based on the HMDA’s comprehensive traffic study, the projects aim to decongest critical traffic zones, reduce travel time, increase average commuting speed from 15 km/h to 35 km/h, and bring down fuel usage and pollution.
Chief Minister’s adviser Vem Narender Reddy, government adviser (infrastructure) K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, CMO principal secretaries V. Seshadri and G. Chandrashekar Reddy, CM’s special secretary B. Ajith Reddy, HMDA commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, and MA&UD principal secretary M. Dana Kishore were present in the meeting.
