Revanth Seeks Special Parliament Session on Women's Reservation Bill
India Alliance will extend full support for the 33 percent Women's Reservation Bill: CM

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately convene a special session of Parliament to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill, providing 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies.
Paying rich tributes to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi at his statue near the Secretariat on his death anniversary, the Chief Minister said Rajiv Gandhi had introduced reservations for women in local bodies to ensure their political empowerment and urged Prime Minister Modi to take inspiration from him and implement women’s quota in legislative bodies without delay.
Revanth Reddy said the I.N.D.I.A bloc was fully prepared to support the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament and stressed that the legislation should be enacted in the true spirit of Rajiv Gandhi’s vision for empowering women politically. He warned against politicising the issue of women’s reservation and demanded that the Centre introduce and pass the Bill without linking it to delimitation of constituencies or any other political issues.
The Chief Minister recalled the contributions of Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary leader who introduced information technology to the country and brought India global recognition in the sector. He said Rajiv Gandhi ushered in the technology era and steered the country towards development through liberalised economic policies. Revanth Reddy said the People’s Government in Telangana was following the ideals of Rajiv Gandhi for the empowerment of women and inclusive development.
The Chief Minister also remembered the role of Sonia Gandhi in taking the courageous decision to fulfil the long-cherished dream of a separate Telangana. He said Telangana shared an inseparable bond with the Gandhi family and described the relationship between the people of Telangana and the Gandhi family as one that went beyond family ties. Revanth Reddy said the people of Telangana would continue to remember and cherish the Gandhi family for generations to come.
